2015 CWDI Report on Women Board Directors in APEC Economies

  • Women hold an average of just 9.8% of board seats in 19 APEC economies.
  • Among APEC economies, Canada (20.4%), Australia (20.1%), and the US (19.2%) have the highest percentages, followed by Vietnam (13.9%), New Zealand (13.6%), and China (13.2%).

2015 CWDI Report: Women Board Directors of 100 Largest Latin American Companies

  • Nearly half (47) of the 100 largest companies in Latin America fail to have a single woman on their Board of Directors.
  • Women account for only 6.4% of directors serving on the boards of top companies in the region.

2015 CWDI Report: Women Board Directors of the Fortune Global 200

  • From 2004 – 2014, the percentage of women board directors has increased only 7.4% — less than 1% annually — from 10.4% in 2004 to 17.8% in 2014.
  • The Top Three countries with the highest percentage of women board directors all have legislative quotas. France (30.2%), Italy (25.8%), and the Netherlands (23.6%)

Where Are The Women: Inclusive Boardrooms In Africa’s Top Listed Companies (2015 CWDI Report on Africa; Commisioned by the African Development Bank

  • Of the 12 countries included in the report, Kenya has the highest percentage of women board directors with 19.8%. 
  • Women hold 12.7% of board directorships (364 out of 2,865) in 307 listed companies based in 12 African countries.

Philippine Stock Exchange Market Open, September 15, 2015

  • CWDI Chair Irene Natividad was joined by Undersecretary of Trade and Industry Nora K. Terrado, PSE CEO Hans B. Sicat, Former Secretary of Foreign Affairs Delia Domingo-Albert, and 40 women Board Directors, CEOs and executives for the first-ever all-women Market Open at the Philippine Stock Exchange.
  • The Market Open saluted the achievements of Filipina women leaders in business and marked the Philippines’ hosting of the APEC Women and the Economy Forum.

ASX (Sydney) Market Open

  • Over 50 women board directors and executives, including Australia’s Sex Discrimination Commissioner Elizabeth Broderick, joined CWDI Chair Irene Natividad in opening the Australian Securities Exchange on September 10th.
  • The ringing of the bell was followed by a Discussion Forum on Board Diversity, and the presentation of the Corporate Champion Award to ASX chair Rick Holliday-Smith for the Exchange’s efforts to accelerate board diversity.

Euronext (Paris) Market Open 4 June 2014

  • Women board directors and executives, many from leading CAC40 companies, joined Minister of Women, Cities, Youth, and Sports Najat Vallaud-Belkacem and Senator Joelle Garriaud-Maylam in opening the Euronext Stock Exchange in Paris
  • The Market Open kicked off the annual Global Summit of Women, hosted by France for the first time.
