Humphrey Borkum, Chairman of the
Johannesburg Stock Exchange
A member of the Board of the Johannesburg Stock
Exchange since 2000, Humphrey Borkum was appointed Chairperson in
2003. Mr. Borkum is also Chairman of the JSE's Nominations Committee and
Member of the Human Resources and Audit Committees. Prior to joining the
JSE Board, Mr. Borkum spent his career at Smith Borkum Hare, where he
rose to become chairman and CEO of the firm until its acquisition by
Merrill Lynch in 1995. He remains chairman of Merrill Lynch South
Africa. Mr. Borkum also serves in the community as chairperson of the
Johannesburg Children's Home. |
Nicky
Newton-King, Deputy CEO of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange
Deputy CEO of the JSE and member of the JSE’s
Executive Committee and Board of Directors Nicky Newton-King has led
many of the JSE’s corporate activities including the demutualization and
recent listing of the JSE.
She is also responsible for the development
of the JSE’s strategy and its investor relations and led the development
of the JSE’s Socially Responsible Investment Index, the first such index
in the world sponsored by an exchange.
Ms. Newton-King was one of three South African
Global Leaders of Tomorrow appointed by the World Economic Forum in 2003
and 2004 and is a 2005 Young Global Leader.
She was also South Africa’s
2003 Businesswoman of the year. |

Namane
Magau, President, International Women’s Forum South Africa
Dr
Magau is the president of the International Women’s Forum South Africa
(IWFSA) and the former president of the Business Women Association of
South Africa (BWASA) where she initiated the Census of Corporate leaders
in South Africa.
Currently, Managing Director of her own consulting company, Business and
Development Solutions, Dr. Magau's qualifications and experience include
executive leadership, business development, education, human development
and human resource management.
Among other key companies, she has served as executive of Development
Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA), CSIR and South African Broadcasting
Corporation (SABC).

Irene
Natividad, Co-Chair, Corporate Women Directors International
Irene Natividad is co-chair of Corporate Women Directors International
(CWDI), which promotes the increased participation of women on corporate
boards globally. CWDI is an offshoot of the Global Summit of Women, a
20-year-old gathering of women leaders from around the world, for which
she serves as President. She serves on numerous boards, from nonprofits
such as the National Museum of Women in the Arts to advisory boards for
Cigna, Wyndham International and the National Association of Corporate
Directors. From 1994 to 2002, she also served on the Board of Directors
of the Sallie Mae Corporation. Recently selected as one of the “21
Leaders for the 21st Century”, by Women’s eNews, Ms.
Natividad was also named as on of the “25 Most Influential Working
Mothers” by Working Mother magazine; and as one of the “100 Most
Powerful Women in
America” by Ladies Home Journal. |

Professor Benjamin Anderson,
CEO, Da Vinci Institute for Technology Management
Professor Benjamin Anderson has been the CEO of the Da Vinci Institute
for Technology Management since 2005.
Prior to this position, he established a fully accredited
learning business unit within the FirstRand Group from 2001 to 2005.
In 1998, he designed, developed and implemented the Bachelor in
Management Leadership Degree Programme in South Africa and established an
inter-institutional partnership agreement with the University of De Paul
(USA) and the University of the Free State
(South Africa).
Additionally, Professor Anderson is involved in projects with
UNDP regarding the development of a service excellence culture in South
Africa and research on women’s economic issues in Africa. |

Michael Katz, Member, King Committee on Corporate Governance and
Chairman, Edward Nathan Sonnenbergs Inc.
A
member of the King Committee on Corporate Governance, Michael M. Katz
serves as chairman of Edward Nathan & Sonnenbergs Inc. Professor Katz has 40 years of experience in takeovers and mergers,
competition law and tax, privatisation and deregulation, public private
partnerships, empowerment ventures and banking and financial markets.
He was chairman of the Tax Advisory Committee to the Minister of
Finance and chairman of the Commission of Inquiry to Investigate the
Taxation System. Professor
Katz is also chairman of the Board of National Housing Finance
Corporation Limited, which facilitates the delivery of affordable
housing.

Basetsana Kumalo, President,
Businesswomen's Association of South Africa
Basetsana Kumalo is currently the President of the Businesswomen's
Association of South Africa.
Founding Presenter of the TV program Top Billing, Ms. Kumalo sits
on the boards of Gauteng Travel
Academy, Unipalm Investment Holdings,
Vhangana Energy Resources, Tactic Investment Holding, Morongwa
Investment Holdings, Seven Falls, Q2 Petroleum and PHAB Holdings.
In addition, she
launched own clothing range under the label "Stature Ladieswear by
Bassie"; has launched an optical and sunglass range; launched the Bassie
Corporate and Promotional wear division and has since launched her own
cosmetic range, Bassie, which will be sold through the Foschini Group. |
Phumzile
Langeni, Executive Chairman, Afropulse Group
Phumzile Langeni is the Executive Chairman of Afropulse Group, a
woman-led Investment, Investor Relations and Corporate Advisory house.
Ms. Langeni was the Economic Advisor to the former Minister of Minerals
and Energy and was previously an executive director of junior platinum
miner Anooraq Resources. She is an independent non-executive Director of
Imperial Holdings, Massmart Holdings Limited, Mineworker’s Investment
Company, Peermont Global, Port Regulator, Astrapak and the Transaction
Capital. |
Wendy
Lucas-Bull, Director of Companies
Ms. Lucas-Bull serves on the board of Eskom, where she chairs the
Investment and Finance Committee, and Telkom Ltd.
In addition, she is a board member of Dimension Data PLC,
Discovery Health, and Momentum Group. Ms. Lucas-Bull is a
member of the council of the University of South Africa (UNISA) and the Millennium
Labour Council. Formerly CEO of the retail business of FirstRand, she
is credited with the significant turnaround and growth in performance
shown by First National Bank during her tenure there. In 1995, she
was awarded the South African Business Women of the Year. |
Vuyo
Mahlati, Chairperson, South African Post Office Board of Directors
Vuyo Mahlati is the Chairperson of the South African Post Office Board
of Directors which includes the Post Bank.
Ms. Mahlati previously served for two terms on the Financial
Markets Advisory Board as well as member of the Financial Services Board
Licensing Committee. She spent four years at the Development Bank of
Southern Africa
working as Program Manager of a DTI investment facilitation program
focusing on agri-tourism investments.
Ms. Mahlati is also the recipient of the 2008 Black Management
Forum Presidential Award for Transformational Leadership. |
Anna
Mokgokong, Executive Chairperson, Community Investment Holdings
Dr.
Anna Mokgokong is the Executive Chairperson of Community Investment
Holdings and holds a number of non-executive positions in companies
including Jasco
Electronics – which is listed on the JSE
,
Tshwane International Convention Centre, Medscheme Holdings Ltd,
Cape Diamonds PLC - which is listed on London Stock Exchange, Lethimvula
Investments, and Siemens Limited.
She was also the Chairperson of UNISA during the merger process
and has been appointed by President Thabo Mbeki to serve a five-year
term as member of the Independent Commission for the Remuneration of
Public Office Bearers, where she was the current Deputy Chairperson.
Prior to becoming an entrepreneur, Dr. Mokgokong practiced as a
community doctor. |
Louisa Mojela, Chief Executive
Officer, WIPHOLD
In 1994 Louisa Mojela, together with three women, founded Women Investment
Portfolio Holdings (WIPHOLD) in South Africa to create an investment vehicle to
empower women in
South Africa. WIPHOLD was the first
women owned and women-led company to be listed on the Johannesburg Stock
Exchange and is regarded as a pioneer and trailblazer on women
empowerment issues. In
1999, Ms. Mojela assumed the role of Executive Chairman of WIPHOLD and
is now the Group Chief Executive Officer.
She has been honored as one of the 40
Leading Women Entrepreneurs of
The World in 2000. Ms.
Mojela also serves on the boards of South African Airways, Sun
International, and Distell among others.

Mardia
van der Walt-Korsten, CEO T-Systems South Africa
Mardia van der Walt-Korsten has served as CEO of T-Systems South Africa
since December 2006. In
this position, Ms. Van der Walt-Korsten provides the leadership,
management and vision necessary to ensure that the company has the
proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures,
and people systems in place to ensure financial strength and operating
efficiency. She began her
career with T-Systems in the Human Resources department in 1998.
Among other awards, Ms. Van der Walt-Korsten was recognized as
the South African Corporate Business Woman of the Year in 2008. |
